Wayland IVI shell - Assigning Surface IDs

I see that as of 7.0 SB has support for the Wayland IVI Shell. Is there a standard way of assigning a surface ID to sbengine when it starts up (environment, command line argument). Any other docs related to this support.

Hello,

We are adding in a new feature in our upcoming release to add an app id to the SB app window so that it is more identifiable to folks making those changes.

Can I get an update on this item. Has the ability to set the surface_id or app_id been added to more recent releases. Currently we are stuck with the default of "0" for the surface id. I see in the Weston log that sbengine DOES know how to talk to the ivi-shell however it always sends the 0 to the surface_id. Is it possible you already added support for this via an cli arg or environment variable?
